Yahoo! is developing and utilizing Internet-scale cloud computing services to improve Yahoo! consumer experience, speed innovation, simplify operating environments, and reduce costs. Yahoo! Cloud Services are in production today supporting web-serving properties and data processing environments. Yahoo! Cloud Services store and deliver web content, personalize content for consumers, optimize Ad selection and placement, improve search results, provide scalable virtual computing environments, and process and store enormous amounts of data to improve consumer experiences and drive innovation. This presentation will elaborate on how Yahoo! and consumers benefit from Yahoo! Cloud Services and will describe Yahoo! Cloud Services and technologies.

Speaker Bio:
Shelton Shugar is senior vice president of cloud computing at Yahoo!. The Cloud Computing organization is focused on developing a next-generation on-demand cloud infrastructure for Yahoo! and driving the strategy for its utilization. Shugar reports directly to Ari Balogh, EVP Products & CTO.

Prior to Yahoo!, Shugar was most recently an engineering leader at eBay, where he was responsible for all product development for Shopping.com and product catalog services for eBay

Shugar’s background includes technology leadership positions at market leading companies over more than twenty-five years, including: executive vice president and chief information officer at MDA, U.S. Financial Services Group; senior vice president and chief technology officer at Homestore, Inc. (currently Move.com); and vice president, engineering at Verisign, Inc..

Shugar holds a M.S. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelors in Music from Peabody Conservatory of Music, both in Baltimore, MD.
