Yahoo! Cloud Serving Platform provides technology to build, test, deploy, run, and manage web services in the Yahoo! Cloud. The architecture of cloud services can differ significantly from traditional application models and, as such, implementing cloud applications can require a fundamental shift in application-design thought processes. Cloud can also often eliminate the need to install and run the application locally, thereby reducing the expenditure required for software maintenance, deployment, management, and support. The primary vehicle for Yahoo! cloud infrastructure is virtualization; more specifically, running virtual servers in large data centers, thereby removing the need to buy and maintain expensive hardware, and taking advantages of economies of scale by sharing Infrastructure resources. This session will elaborate on Yahoo! Cloud Serving Platform architecture and how it leverages virtualization technologies to simplify and automate our service delivery.

Speaker Bio:
Surendra Reddy is currently the Vice President of the Integrated Cloud and Virtualization group at Yahoo! where he is responsible for cloud serving platform and data center virtualization strategy & engineering. He joined Yahoo! from Amitive, a SCM-as-a-Service company, where he was the CTO/VP of engineering and was responsible for the technology strategy and engineering. Prior to that (2003-2007), he founded and launched a grid computing and data center automation company, Optena, where he was responsible for technology strategy and execution as the Chief Technology Officer.Reddy specializes in Grid computing, on-demand services (SaaS, PaaS and cloud), Web 2.0/Enterprise 2.0 and services architectures (SOA).
